CareLink now offers the USDA Food Program. All Licensed York County Family Childcare Professionals qualify to join us for this wonderful program.
It is easy, simple and a benefit to you as well as the children and families you serve. To get started or simply receive more information just contact CareLink at 207-324-0735. You will then schedule a time with the USDA Food Program Manager to visit your home at your convenience. At this meeting you will discuss the program and paperwork involved, no commitment is necessary at that time.
Once you have agreed to join the program, for a minimal amount of work you could receive anywhere from $7.30 to $17.65 per week per child. You will be reimbursed for every child enrolled in a paying slot on your program. The Welfare Reform Act of 1996 included a provision, which allows you to also claim meals served to children who live as members of your household in a nonpaying slot if you meet the eligibility requirements and serve a meal to at least one other enrolled child not of your household.
CareLink provides a free USDA training per year and a variety of resources about nutrition. We are in the process of starting a Food Program Resource Library already containing Chef Combo, a wonderful puppet used to teach children about making healthy choices and soon to contain a flannel board and flannel board stories
